The vision for this blog was brought about when thinking of
a “place” that displays well-known characteristics. In my brainstorming
process, nothing was more prominent in my mind then Los Angeles, CA as a
landmark of fame. I know of nowhere in the world that is similar to it and how
this is conveyed everywhere in the city. There is a plethora of show business,
fame and money interwoven into the signs and structures that adorns Los Angeles
and Hollywood. It is like a type of Voodoo. Hollywood has manifested itself so
that no matter who or what you are, or are looking for, people of California are
surrounded by this constant idea of fame and making it. I wanted to create a
sense of the city to display by demonstrating how all the signs and structures
have this way of pushing people to strive to be above average, something
greater than just a mediocre person. Because I lived in the heart of Hollywood,
I was able to experience this sort of dilemma first hand, and felt like it
would be natural and genuine to write about it. The city displays many things
that allow for anyone to correlate Hollywood and Fame as equals. The Hollywood
sign, Walk of Fame, “That’s SO LA” billboards, and famous streets that stars
are discovered on all help execute this idea of “Hollywood Voodoo”.
